MAKE YOURSELF A PRIORITY! Effective self-care and stress management is an important part of a balanced and healthy life. Self-care actually helps you make progress faster—it prevents burnout, reduces the negative effects of stress, and helps you refocus. Just like eating, sleeping, and exercise are good for your well-being, finding and implementing your own self-care routine is integral to reaching your life goals.

As you work hard toward your career by advancing your education, the last thing you want is to get bogged down by unnecessary stress. This site provides videos and other resources on topics such as meditation and yoga to help you on your journey.

Meditation

The mental health benefits of meditation can include better focus and concentration, improved self-awareness and self-esteem, lower levels of stress and anxiety, and fostering kindness. Below are audio meditations created by Saddleback Professor Deidre Cavazzi.

Yoga

You don't have to wait until you are stressed to do yoga. A number of studies have shown that yoga may help reduce stress and anxiety. It can also enhance your mood and overall sense of well-being. Below are two beginner videos created by Saddleback Professor Deidre Cavazzi.

Ted talks

For more on self-care, consider watching selections from this TED playlist on the topic. These talks offer simple ways to stay healthy — both emotionally and physically.

Student Health Services

Sometimes you may just need someone to talk with. Saddleback College offers some amazing services for students. Therapists are available Monday through Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8-3pm for drop in appointments. You can also call the Student Health Center at (949) 582-4606 for assistance in scheduling an appointment or go to the web based app to schedule an appointment online.
