2022 Saddleback College Commencement

Student Speaker Application

Are you graduating or transferring from Saddleback College this year? We are looking for amazing students to speak at the 2022 Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, May 26th, 2022.

Tell us YOUR story. In your story, be sure to include:

​

• Experiences from your background 

• Why you chose Saddleback College 

• Significant experiences/challenges at Saddleback College

• Who, if anyone helped you get to where you are today, and

• What advice you would give to the 2022 graduating class.

The stories that are selected for the 2022 Saddleback College Student Commencement Speech will only be selected if they are between 3-5 minutes in length (450 -750 words). 

Saddleback College's Student Commencement Speech is unique, in that it is a Group Speech. Students chosen to speak will perform in one collective speech. Successful candidates must meet as a group with our speech coach who will combine portions of your experiences into one powerful performance piece that will be presented at the ceremony. To apply, fill out the application at the link found below.  Applications are due by Friday, April 15, 2022 by 11:59p. Finalists will be chosen on relevance, impact, and quality of content. Finalists may be asked to deliver portions of their writing to a selection committee to determine the successful group of candidates.

If you are selected for the Group Speech, your story will be incorporated into a performance that you will be expected to rehearse. Rehearsal will take place the last three Fridays of the Semester (May 6, 13, and 20) from 9a-1030a on campus.
